Churchill's "V" for Victory!

July 19

"V" for Victory!

It was on JULY 19, 1941, that British Prime Minister Winston
Churchill held up two fingers as a sign of victory.

It became a symbol for all Western European resistance during WWII,
with V signs painted on walls and over Nazi posters.

A year earlier, Churchill stated before the House of Commons, June
18, 1940:

"I expect that the Battle of Britain is about to begin.

Upon this battle depends the survival of Christian civilization...

The whole fury and might of the enemy must very soon be turned on us.

Hitler knows that he will have to break us in this Island or lose the
war." Churchill continued:

"If we can stand up to him, all Europe may be free and the life of
the world may move forward into broad, sunlit uplands.

But if we fail, then the whole world, including the United States,
including all that we have known and cared for, will sink into the
abyss of a new Dark Age made more sinister, and perhaps more
protracted, by the lights of perverted science."

Winston Churchill concluded:

"Let us therefore brace ourselves to our duties, and so bear
ourselves that, if the British Empire and its Commonwealth last for a
thousand years, men will still say,

'This was their finest hour.'" (Taken from American Minute with Bill Federer)

This little speech makes me wonder. When has been my finest hour, just as it may make you think of when was yours. We all go through our lives and days in almost a repetitive actions doing essentially the same thing with only slight deviation from the day earlier. When was the last time you stood up for to massive powers looking to take all that you know and destroy it? When was the last time you realized that it was happening to you in the first place? The powers that be want us to believe that all they do its in the best interest of ourselves, but that only reminds me of feelings of irritation while growing up and parents telling me that it's the best things for me and they would decide what's best for me. Just as it does now when the governments decide what is best for us in their eyes. Not through our seemly innocuous vote or voice.

They already are taking our rights slowly in the name of safety for ourselves and protection under them. As if we aren't able to take care of ourselves. Are we to sit idly by and wait for their protect and instruction on how best to lead our lives as long as it coincides with their wants for us or is this our finest our when we stand up to them and take back our rights and liberties. Stating that we are not in need of your protection. We are sovereign individuals who know right from wrong and we are strong and will not be lead by the unjustified powers in which you the government have given yourself over us.

This is your life, this is your dream, and these days ahead, when we will have to put our foot down and say enough is enough, will be our finest hours. Stand strong and remember you have unalienable rights that belong to you simply by being alive. Unalienable rights, rights that are incapable of being surrender, taken, or transferred. Let those rights be the strength you need to stand up to injustice and evil. Let's those rights ring true through your actions and never deny your fellow man the same rights you yourself hold true for you. Is he not as deserving of them?

We don't need a special day to remind ourselves that we are worthy to live in a free society, we only need ourselves to do that. You are worthy of your rights and privileges, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Know your rights, live as a free individual, pursue your happiness, and don't let anything stand in your way.
